Our Modern Slavery Statement
Slavery and Human Trafficking
This Statement has been published in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 ('Act') and sets out the steps that Premiere Care (NE) Ltd has taken to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from operating within the business. We recognise that modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights.
Modern Slavery in our Business
We want our clients to be confident that we treat all our employees fairly, with respect for human rights and that they are not exposed to unsafe working conditions or in any way forced to work under slavery. We believe that when ethical standards are in place this can improve worker well-being, productivity and quality. We do this through a series of measures and policies covering Whistleblowing, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, ensuring all employees have employment contracts, and we also monitor employee remuneration and benefits to ensure they exceed national legislative requirements.
We employ a number of overseas sponsored workers as carers, this is necessary in order to meet the local demand for carers in our community. We want to assure our customers that, even though these workers represent only a small percentage of our workforce, they are employed on the same terms and conditions as everyone else. Premiere Care believes it is right that people working in the UK care sector should be paid a proper living wage for the essential work they do, as a result from April 2024 all our hourly employees are paid £14.50 per hour.
We also recognise that all our employees have a responsibly to be alert to the risks of modern slavery, however small, in our business. To combat this we have developed a very open management style and a business culture which encourages the reporting of concerns to management as soon as they are observed, and management are expected to act upon them immediately.
This Statement has been approved by the Board of Directors.
